Comerford Irish Woven Blanket | Ballybur Kilkenny Family Crest Throw
The Comerfords built in stone, and their tower house at Ballybur still stands to prove it. This premium heritage woven blanket honors the Comerford family crest against the Irish National Tartan.
The Comerford Name in Ireland
Comerford is an Old English name, settled in Kilkenny and Waterford since the Middle Ages and written deep into the civic life of Kilkenny city, where the family held office generation after generation. Their tower house at Ballybur, raised in the late sixteenth century a few miles from the city, still stands today. Patrick Comerford, born in Waterford, served as Bishop of Waterford and Lismore through the upheavals of the seventeenth century.
How the Comerford Blanket Is Made
There is no printing here. Crest and tartan are woven from 100% premium cotton yarn through the body of the cloth, with a traditional fringe to finish.
